about

– you, the Deaconettes :

after a few years of shopping, you are beginning to form your very own taste and willing to go against the grain. there is little interest in Vuitton or Hermes, for those are your moms’ and aunties’.

you are a working 27 year-old (no matter if she’s at 17 or at 77) at the intersection of being a girl and being a woman; doesn’t want to let go of your silliness yet you are thinking about building a family. you are proud of your independent yet you are just a little bit lonely, a little bit lost.

you are ready to love.

– me, deacon the person :

after studying mathematics and economics in boston, i relocated to new york city and got my b.f.a. in fashion design from parsons school of design before the turn of the century. in school, i was apprenticed to geoffrey beene and jean yu.

upon graduation and through cecilia dean of visionaire, i wandered into the world of styling assisting alex white, the fashion director of w magazine. itching to create physical products, i returned to designing at emanuel emanuel ungaro and patrick robinson. balancing a full time day job, i co-founded Nneuhs – an accessory label – in ’00 in nyc believing in vision, innovation and function. it was not about buying “retail samples” to “borrow” ideas nor “looking back” for “inspiration”, but looking forward. design-driven without compromising quality, each piece is crafted by hands in my own sample room in soho.

to bring products and process closer, i moved to asia in ’05 and renamed the studio dailydozen creative. while Nneuhs took a back seat, i part-owned a premium denim label – vintage china – successfully fusing the chinese culture as design element and western lifestyles as inspiration for the american and european markets. the label was eventually sold in the summer of 2010. after five more years of consulting works concentrating on the chinese market, i wanted to propose something new, something specific for the young urban women – DEACON.
